Dear families, On October 20, the 3C St. John’s/St. Paul’s unit was declared an official scabies outbreak per our Medical Director Dr. T Babick and regional infection prevention and control. Outbreak measures have been initiated on the 3C St. John’s/St. Paul’s unit and all residents will be treated to prevent the spread on the unit. For those who are not aware, Scabies is a skin infestation caused by a mite. Dear Families, Election Day is quickly approaching and I just wanted to let everyone know about a few things: Election Day is October 3, 2023. The lecture room will be set up as the polling station at Holy Family Nursing Home 165 Aberdeen Ave., 8Am to 8PM. Election cards will be on the resident care units and pinned on each of the corkboards in the resident rooms. Re: Complimentary oral health screenings for residents in long-term care through the Home Dental Care Program Dear families: The University of Manitoba’s Centre for Community Oral Health (CCOH) is pleased to offer eligible individuals living in long-term care a complimentary oral health assessment through the Home Dental Care Program. Dear families, I wanted to share with everyone that regional infection prevention and control and our medical director did call off the COVID 19 outbreak on 4A St. Joseph’s Monday Sept. 11, 2023. I wish to thank the residents, family and staff for their dedication to preventing the spread of the virus, acting quickly and containing the virus on the unit. We had three residents test positive for COVID 19 on the 4A St. Joseph’s unit. We completed 10 full days of isolation following the last resident who exhibited symptoms.
