Holy Family Home is currently looking for volunteers to assist in the Spiritual Care Department. Duties include transporting residents to weekday services, (9:15 am-11:15 am) as well as friendly visiting with residents on their units. All volunteers must be able to show proof of vaccination and attend a brief volunteer orientation session. Please contact Michelle or Roman if you would like to join this much-needed ministry. Feb. 21, 2023 Dear Families, I am sorry to have to share, but over the weekend, we had a few residents develop some respiratory symptoms on 4A St. Joseph’s and unfortunately, we did get results back to indicate we have RSV on the 4A St. Joseph’s unit. As of today, we have three (3) cases of RSV on 4A St. Joseph’s unit and now are in official outbreak. Feb. 8, 2023 Dear Families, I wish to share with everyone that the outbreaks here at Holy Family Home are now officially resolved as of today Feb. 8, 2023 as per the regional infection prevention and control and our medical director. The Social Work Department is thrilled to announce that we will be facilitating a Valentine’s Telegram in support of Resident Council. Fundraising helps to support and enhance resident initiatives.Roses are available for purchase at $5 per stem (cash only) from Wednesday, February 8th to Friday, February 10th. Jan. 30, 2023 Dear Families, As we continue to navigate the winter respiratory outbreak season, I wanted to share that we had some resident care units resolve their outbreak. Here at Holy Family on 4A St. Joseph’s and 2C St. Mary’s/St. Francis outbreaks are now resolved. All residents can return back to communal dining, group activities and off unit events. UKRAINIAN MALANKA: THE MOSAICS

This year, we were able to celebrate Malanka, once  again, with the residents and their families at Holy Family Home. It was so beautiful to see families celebrating  a holiday that is meaningful for many of our residents.  Malanka, celebrated on New Year’s eve is a traditional holiday in honour of Saint Melanie whose feast day is on the last day of the calendar year. Celebrating (the last day of the year) or  (New Year’s Eve) has a long history and actually dates back to pre-Christian pagan times. Residents can return to regular activities on/off unit and visitation can resume to normal on/off of the resident care unit.
