Dear Families,
I am sorry to have to share, but over the weekend, we had a few residents develop some respiratory symptoms on 4A St. Joseph’s and unfortunately, we did get results back to indicate we have RSV on the 4A St. Joseph’s unit. As of today, we have three (3) cases of RSV on 4A St. Joseph’s unit and now are in official outbreak. The 4A unit has initiated outbreak strategies as per the regional Infection Prevention and Control practitioner and our Medical Director. The below outbreak strategies have been initiated on the 4A St. Joseph’s unit to help decrease the spread of the virus:
- all off unit activities/events are cancelled for the residents on 4A,
- recreation activities are to move to more 1:1 activities,
- residents who are symptomatic are isolated to their rooms
- all family visitation needs to occur on the unit in the resident rooms
- only 2 visitors are to visit at one time – for outbreak unit only
- increased high touch surface cleaning
- active resident monitoring for symptoms
Remember that we could not care for our residents without your help, so please let nursing know if you notice a change in your loved one during your visiting hours and do not visit if you are experiencing any respiratory or flu like symptoms.
If you do have any questions please reach out to your unit nurse, social work or resident care manager.
Sincerely,
Stacey Morgan RNBN
Director of Care
