Over the last few weeks, many activities have taken place around Holy Family Home, including family council, liturgy and Christmas parties. It has been nice to see all the residents gathering with friends, family and staff members. The smiling faces have been a joy to see! During last week’s family council meetings, we shared information about some personnel changes within our resident care teams. The holiday season is upon us and I wanted to let you know that Holy Family Home continues to have different viruses circulating within the Home. We will continue to do our best to communicate this information on a regular basis. Signage is posted throughout the Home including the main entrance, elevators and on the units in outbreak when outbreaks occur. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the unit nurse or social workers if you have questions about outbreaks. Outbreaks on St. John's, St. Paul's and St. Luke's are resolved. Sunday Divine Liturgy returns monthly in 2024

Dear Families, Holy Family Home is pleased to announce that Divine Liturgy on Sundays will be returning on a monthly basis in the New Year. The Spiritual Care Department offers many weekly services from a variety of faith denominations; however, residents and families continue to stress the importance of going to church on Sunday. November 21, 2023 Today we declared a Respiratory Outbreak of COVID 19 on 1C St. Luke’s as per regional infection prevention and control and our medical director. We have 2 residents who have tested positive for COVID. Read more about measures that have been implemented. 3C St. John’s/St. Paul’s unit remains in a scabies outbreak and outbreak measures remain in place. Dear families, On October 20, the 3C St. John’s/St. Paul’s unit was declared an official scabies outbreak per our Medical Director Dr. T Babick and regional infection prevention and control. Outbreak measures have been initiated on the 3C St. John’s/St. Paul’s unit and all residents will be treated to prevent the spread on the unit. For those who are not aware, Scabies is a skin infestation caused by a mite. Dear Families, Election Day is quickly approaching and I just wanted to let everyone know about a few things: Election Day is October 3, 2023. The lecture room will be set up as the polling station at Holy Family Nursing Home 165 Aberdeen Ave., 8Am to 8PM. Election cards will be on the resident care units and pinned on each of the corkboards in the resident rooms. Re: Complimentary oral health screenings for residents in long-term care through the Home Dental Care Program Dear families: The University of Manitoba’s Centre for Community Oral Health (CCOH) is pleased to offer eligible individuals living in long-term care a complimentary oral health assessment through the Home Dental Care Program.
