Spring booster for the COVID-19 virus
Dear Families, As we head into longer days with more sunlight and the thoughts of spring, Manitoba Health shared with Holy Family Home they are now offering a spring booster for the COVID -19 virus. Respiratory outbreak: St. Paul’s/St. John’s
Dear families, Late last week we had residents experiencing respiratory symptoms on 3C St. Paul’s/St. John’s unit and an outbreak of COVID 19 was declared on Feb. 16, 2024. Nursing is continuing to monitor our residents closely and outbreak protocol’s have been initiated on the unit. This includes only two (2) visitors allowed per resident at one time and visitation needs to occur in the resident room. Outbreak Updates: Sts. Martha & Basil are clear, Sts. Paul & John ongoing
The GI outbreak on the St. Martha and St. Basil units has resolved. Thanks to everyone for a quick resolution. The scabies outbreak on the St. Paul and St. John units continue, with a second round of treatment for all residents, and terminal cleaning of rooms and common spaces this past weekend. Outbreak measures will be in place through February. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Exciting new developments to make bathing more comfortable!
I wanted to share with you about an exciting project that will be starting in the Home, Monday, Jan. 22, 2024. The tub rooms in both the 2A Sacred Heart and 4A St. Joseph’s unit will have some enhancements that includes flooring, curtains, paint and new tubs. With this new project, it does mean that the tub rooms will be closed to use by residents and staff from Jan. 22 to the end of February. Outbreak updates: St. John’s, St. Paul’s, St. Martha’s
Outbreak measures are in place on St. John's and St. Paul's for scabies. All residents have been treated orally on Jan. 12, 2024 and again 14 days later to prevent the spread on the unit. All resident rooms and belongings will be packed up for 7-14 days to allow for terminal cleaning of the rooms. There is a potential GI outbreak on St. Martha's (awaiting IPC confirmation). All residents are being monitored and efforts are being implemented to minimize spread.
