Residents, with their families, enjoyed the Taras Shevchenko Tea. They listened to poetry and songs written by Shevchenko, which were recited and sung by staff and volunteers.
Taras Shevchenko lived from March 9, 1814, to March 10, 1861. He is called the “Bard of Ukraine”, on a level with Shakespeare, Byron and Robert Burns. A true “people poet”, he expressed the aspirations of a broad sector of Ukrainians in contemporary language, with humanism and spirituality. He truly laid a solid foundation for the Ukrainian literary language.
