The month of December is rich in celebration. Holy Family Home was blessed to welcome young children from Holy Ghost School who performed a beautiful Christmas concert for residents and staff on the feast of St. Nicholas, December 6. St. Nicholas – who attended and enjoyed the concert! – also visited our residents at their unit Christmas parties.
St. Nicholas is a great example of expressing love and mercy for others. We know in the various needs of a person, love and mercy come first. Love is the root of all other spiritual gifts: patience, humility, meekness, truth, respect, honour, kindness. St. Nicholas teaches us about God’s love in difficult moments, and God comes to a person’s aid with the gift of his mercy. Belief in God’s mercy and giving it to others is a spiritual light for people in today’s world.
In this way, we will fulfill the words of Christ: “Let your light shine before people, so that they, seeing your good deeds, may glorify your Father in Heaven.” (Mt. 5, 16).
