Dear Families,
We are saddened to share the passing of a resident who had COVID-19 in November 2020. We send our sincere condolences and thoughts to the family during this difficult time.
There have been some questions raised as to why communications continue to be shared regarding the passing of residents who have departed after having been positive with COVID-19. We are required to report any passing of residents who had been positive with COVID-19 to Manitoba Health and WRHA Public Health. Very few exceptions would classify the passing of a previously COVID-19 positive as not reportable to public health. The provincial news conferences announce a reported resident’s death as linked to the outbreak at Holy Family Home which can cause families and the community think we are in a new outbreak. We commit to being as transparent in our communications as we are able.
We continue to encourage all designated family caregivers and all visitors to be vaccinated for their protection, the protection of the Home and community at large. The vaccine eligibility criteria have changed to enable all Manitobans over the age of 12 to be vaccinated and second dose appointments are available based upon the date of the initial vaccine. The eligibility criteria can be found at can be found at https://www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/vaccine/eligibility-criteria.html.
Thank you for your continued support. Please keep Holy Family Home in your thoughts and your prayers.
Sincerely,
Tara-Lee Procter (Maciuszonek) – CEO
