Dear Families,

Late last week we learned a resident who was transferred to the hospital tested positive when receiving a rapid test on admission.  There have been 126 residents test positive, 93 recover and sadly 31 residents have passed away.  Our prayers are with all of the residents for their ongoing recovery. There have been no additional staff test positive.  There is one active staff case and 54 recovered.  We wish the staff person a speedy recovery.

Today was an exciting day at Holy Family Home with the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine for most of our residents and the initial dose for some of our residents who were unable to receive it on the initial vaccination date. More specifics regarding the vaccine uptake in the home will be shared in a future communication.  Staff continue to be strongly encouraged to receive the vaccine particularly when staff in long term care have prioritized access to the vaccine.  Appointments are able to be scheduled at present as the supply of the vaccine has improved again.

We are hopeful we will be able to begin implementing rapid testing for staff at the home next week.  Communications will be further shared by the end of this week.

The indoor visitation rooms are open and visits for designated family caregivers are occurring seven days a week.  Those residents who are still in isolation cannot have visits booked with their designated family care giver at present.  To schedule a visit, please contact Janice Buors at 204 589 7381, extension 265.

We will contact you directly if there are any concerns related to your loved one.

Please keep Holy Family Home in your thoughts and your prayers.

Sincerely,

Tara-Lee Procter (Maciuszonek) – CEO
