December 24, 2020

Dear Families,

We have had no further COVID-19 positive residents.  Currently, there are 94 residents recovered from the infectious period of the virus and recuperating, 2 active resident cases, no residents in hospital, and sadly twenty-one residents have passed away.  There have been a total of 117 residents test positive for COVID-19.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the residents and especially those who have tested positive for their ongoing recovery and improved strength.

There were no additional staff test positive for COVID-19.  We have had 43 staff members of the 47 who have tested positive for COVID-19 recover. We look forward to the safe return of our staff and to their recovery.

Today, a small group of staff toured the units spreading Christmas cheer handing out individually wrapped gifts to residents while singing Christmas carols in English and Ukrainian.  All infection prevention and controls protocols were adhered to and there was a wonderfully joyful response from the residents. On Christmas Day, the residents will be treated to delicious traditional meals for both Christmas lunch and supper.

For those who would like to drop off gifts for residents for Christmas, please have gifts in wipeable packaging to be sanitized prior to delivery to the resident.  Please also label the gift clearly with the resident’s full name to ensure it is delivered appropriately.  The residents have enjoyed receiving the gifts and we are working with the support aides from the Red Cross to ensure items are delivered in a timely manner.

If you have not booked a virtual visit over the Christmas period, please contact Sandra Katchnoski – Recreation Coordinator at [email protected] to arrange.

We will continue to provide updates throughout the holiday season and we will contact you directly should there be any issue with your loved one.

Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas.  May we all find ways to celebrate the spirit of Christmas albeit in a very different way and share our gratitude for the blessings we are fortunate to have.

Please keep Holy Family Home in your thoughts and your prayers.

Sincerely,

Tara-Lee Procter (Maciuszonek) – CEO
