Dear Families,
We regret to inform you of the passing of another one of our residents this morning. Our sincere condolences and prayers to the family during this very challenging time.
We received two more positive results bringing the total of COVID-19 positive residents to 103. There are currently 69 residents recovered and recuperating, 18 active resident cases, 1 resident in hospital and sadly fifteen residents have passed away. We are hopeful for the continued gaining of strength and ongoing health of these residents. Our thoughts and prayers are with all these residents.
We have had 46 staff members test positive for COVID-19 and 31 have recovered. There are several more staff to be anticipated to be cleared to return to work in the next few days. We are so very thankful for these staff being able to safely return to work and for their recovery.
The Red Cross reviewed their plans with the Home today and given its size, they will be providing 10 support aides to assist in supporting residents. The priority will be those residents who are convalescing following the recovery from the virus. The support aides will be receiving an orientation to the Home and to their roles tomorrow morning and will be at the home 10 hours per day, seven days per week. There are specific parameters of what assistance the support aides are able to provide which includes encouragement of hydration and eating (no directly assisting residents to eat), socialization, connecting residents and families virtually and light cleaning duties. The second group of support aides will begin on Saturday, December 12, 2020 who will also receive an orientation to the Home that morning. There will be on-site leadership from the Red Cross to support the aides. We will be collaborating with the Red Cross and we are grateful for their assistance.
We continue to meet with WRHA LTC program regularly who are providing support and guidance.
We will contact you directly should there be any issue with your loved one.
Please keep Holy Family Home in your thoughts and your prayers.
Sincerely,
Tara-Lee Procter (Maciuszonek) – CEO
