Dear Families,
We received two more positive results today bringing the total of COVID-19 positive residents to 92. There are currently 41 residents recuperating from the virus who are no longer infectious, 39 active resident cases, 2 residents in hospital and sadly ten residents have passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with these residents for their recovery and well-being. The families from units impacted are being contacted by phone with updates.
We have had 42 staff test positive for COVID-19 and 20 have recovered. We are anticipating several more staff to be cleared to return to work once assessed by Occupational Health to approve their safe return to work.
We have been encouraging hydration and intake for all residents and particularly for those residents who have or have recovered from the virus. Our dieticians are assessing residents and making recommendations. The nutrition and food services department are preparing and ordering in supplements and items to promote eating and drinking. Our recreation staff are making hydration fun with a variety of tasty refreshments to encourage residents to maintain their oral intake. Staff from throughout the program areas are working hard to ensure the nutritional needs of residents are being met. Our nurses are assessing and monitoring residents frequently and our health care aides are working diligently to provide support and care. We have also introduced hydration for some of our residents subcutaneously to support their recovery further. The Community IV Program have also assisted by providing IV fluids to some of residents to support their healing. The Home is as a whole making great efforts to support and care for the residents during this very stressful and challenging time.
Today, we had our second visit from the Red Cross who observed the care on several of our units. We will be receiving feedback on our infection prevention and control protocols. The feedback received thus far has been positive. It is unknown as of yet as to whether there will be any support aides sent to assist at Holy Family Home. We will share information as we have more detail,
Thank you for your support and encouragement. It is so very appreciated. We will contact you directly should there be any issue with your loved one.
Please keep Holy Family Home in your thoughts and your prayers.
Sincerely,
Tara-Lee Procter (Maciuszonek) – CEO
