Dear Families,

We continue to have had 63 residents who have tested positive with COVID-19 (25 have recovered, 2 are in hospital and there are 32 active cases and sadly four residents have passed away). We are also anticipating several other residents to be recovered over the next few days and we are so grateful for their recovery.  Families of residents who have tested positive are notified by phone as soon as possible and we will also contact families when negative results have been received as well.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of these residents for their recovery.

We now had 35 staff test positive for COVID-19 and 9 have recovered. We continue to work with Occupational Health who are assessing staff to determine if and when they are safe to return to work. We anticipate the return of several more staff over the next few days and look forward to their safe return.

As mentioned yesterday, we are waiting for the results of a number of swabs that were collected earlier this week.  We received several negative results today and we are expecting we will be receiving the remainder of these results tomorrow.

The WRHA LTC Infection Prevention and Control Consultant attended the Home today to meet with leadership and tour the facility.  We received positive feedback for our implementation of the infection and prevention procedures and protocols established by the region and Shared Health.  All residents continue to be in isolation at present as we work to manage the outbreak at the Home.  Our staff are wearing N95 masks when interacting or caring for residents which will provide protection of the residents from our staff, protection for our staff from residents and protection for staff from one another.  Education and audits related to the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are ongoing.

We are thankful for your continued support.

We will contact you directly should there be any issue with your loved one.

Please keep Holy Family Home in your thoughts and your prayers.
