Dear Families,

We are very sad to share that one of our residents passed away today in hospital.  Our sincere condolences and prayers are with the family during this very difficult time.

We now have had 63 residents test positive with COVID-19 (22 have recovered, 2 are in hospital and there are 35 active cases and sadly four residents have passed away).  Families of residents who have tested positive are notified by phone as soon as possible.  Phone calls are made to residents’ families where there are positive residents on the unit as well.  Our thoughts and prayers are with these residents for their recovery.

We now had 31 staff test positive for COVID-19 and 9 have recovered. Occupational Health is following up with staff who have tested positive or who are on isolation following a negative test result to determine if these staff can be safely cleared to return to work.  We are looking forward to these staff returning to care for the residents. We are thankful for the safe return of these staff and grateful for their dedication.

We have completed the recommended asymptomatic swabs for residents as directed by the Medical Officer of Health.  We anticipate these results should be received in the next 24-48 hours.

Today, we met with the Red Cross to partner with them for additional supports.  The Red Cross will evaluate our infection prevention and control procedures. The preliminary feedback was very positive in terms the processes and standards we have been following.  We welcome their feedback and will follow any recommendations. They also provide support aides that will assist with stocking supplies, facilitating connections with families and social support for residents.  We will provide more information as we have further detail as to what assistance they will be providing the home.

Thank you for your continued support as we work to manage our outbreak at the Home.  It is sincerely appreciated.

We will contact you directly should there be any issue with your loved one.

Please keep Holy Family Home in your thoughts and your prayers.
