What makes a home a home? The loving commitment of those that are a part of the fabric of a home. Holy Family Home Auxiliary is a diverse group of volunteers who are a part of the fabric of the home by consistently sharing their friendship and talents with the residents.
As we all know, this year is different and has impacted each of us in different ways. Members of the Auxiliary are missing the opportunity of connecting with the residents, especially at this time of year. In December the Auxiliary would be busy preparing gifts from St. Nicholas for each resident, presenting a St. Nicholas Concert, distributing gifts, turning up their voices to carol throughout the units and just bringing festive joy to the home.
For the safety of our residents and staff, the Auxiliary has had to do things differently this month. Thankfully to all their fundraising efforts prior to the pandemic, the Auxiliary is in a position to continue their help for residents. They recently made a contribution of $15,000 to the Festival of Lights Campaign. In addition, the Auxiliary also donated a total amount of $24,500 in support of the residents when the pandemic first began.
By directing the Auxiliary support to the Festival of Lights Campaign they are giving to where the need is the greatest today. This gift is directly helping enhance the quality of life for the Holy Family Home residents especially in the area of increased therapeutic recreation and rehabilitation services. They are helping to provide resources that focus on the resident to experience a strengthening of their body, mind and soul especially to help reduce the sense of isolation during this time of COVID-19.
Thank you to all the Auxiliary members over the years, that have helped raise money and have given of their time to supplement the high quality of care and compassion for the residents. We are hopeful that someday soon this group of volunteers will be able to return to visiting and interacting with residents in the home.
