Festival of Lights 2021 – Divine Liturgy & Tree Lighting

Join us on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 10 a.m. (CST) for the live streaming of Divine Liturgy from the Holy Family Home Chapel with the main celebrant His Grace, Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak, OSBM. November 23, 2021 Dear Residents and Families, We are very sorry to share our resident who tested positive for COVID-19 passed away this morning.  Our sincere condolences and prayers to the family in this challenging time.  We have received negative results for all of the swabs taken based on our contact tracing.  No further staff or residents are exhibiting symptoms.  Residents are assessed twice daily throughout the Home for potential symptoms of COVID-19.  Visitation continues to be suspended on 5A - St. Michael’s until further notice with exceptions for residents at end of life.  All of the residents identified as [...]

November 19, 2021 Dear Residents and Families, We are saddened to share that a COVID-19 outbreak has been declared on 5A - St. Michael’s.  There has been one staff and one resident test positive.  The residents are all in isolation and all protocols have been implemented.    All of the residents’ families on this unit have been contacted by phone. November 15, 2021 Dear Residents and Families, With the rising positivity rate for COVID-19 in Manitoba, we all need to maintain our diligence to protect our residents, families, and staff.  As per the last communication, effective November 15, 2021, all Designated Family Caregivers will be required to show proof of full vaccination to visit in the resident’s room.  Shared Health and public health have also made this mandatory for all long-term care homes across the province effective today.  Designated Family Caregivers, who are fully vaccinated, will need to provide proof of vaccination (vaccination card or digital QR code) and identification [...]

Festival of Lights Special Resident Events: “Movies in the Park”

Thanks to the generous Festival of Lights donation campaign, special recreation events for our residents continued throughout September. "Movies in the Park" were held in September at Holy Family Home in Winnipeg. Separate events were held so that residents from all units could attend while keeping in practice with social distancing and group size guidelines. Residents ate snacks and enjoyed movies under the stars in the beautiful park at Holy Family Home. Thank you to our Festival of Lights donors for helping make this another fun outdoor event for our residents!

Festival of Lights Special Resident Events: “Petting Zoos”

Thanks to the generous Festival of Lights donation campaign, special recreation events for our residents continued throughout September. The fifth events were “Petting Zoo” events held in September. Prancing Pony Petting Zoo brought animals to turn into a mini farm for our residents. Separate events were held so that residents from all units could attend while keeping in practice with social distancing and group size guidelines. Residents got to meet, pet and feed different farm animals including: goats, an alpaca, a calf, a donkey, chicks and rabbits. This brought up many fond memories of the farm for alot of our residents!
